About Us

To Know Jesus and Make Him Known

Mission & Vision

MISSION STATEMENT: Altamont Bible Church is a Christ centered family of believers committed to discipleship, equipping the next generation, and sharing Christ’s love with the world.

CHURCH VISION:
At Altamont Bible Church, we seek to glorify God by being a Christ-centered family of believers led by a plurality of elders, rooted in Scripture, and committed to discipleship. Here people find true connection through home groups, are equipped to grow as Godly leaders, and are sent to serve both locally and globally.

We are devoted to equipping the next generation through intentional teaching, mentoring, and active engagement in our community. Every family member is called to use their God-given gifts in service, so that together we live out the Great Commission: to love God, love others, and make disciples of all nations.

Our Story

Altamont Bible Church was established in 2012 as the Livermore campus of Valley Bible Church in Pleasanton, initially meeting at Altamont Creek Elementary School. After countless Sundays of unloading our trailer to set up and tear down every Sunday, the Lord provided a building right at the base of the Altamont Pass on Southfront Road in 2016.

Our church family has walked through many challenges, sorrows, and growth over the years which has only brought us closer to the Lord and closer to each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. As of January 1, 2026 Altamont Bible Church became an independent church body. We are excited to see how the Lord uses the Altamont to grow His Kingdom and grow more disciple makers.

2012

2012

Patrick Wehmann (teaching pastor) and Jay Scott (elder) felt called to start a Livermore Campus of Valley Bible Church. For the first 4 years they would faithfully serve the Livermore community by setting up church every Sunday at Altamont Creek Elementary school. The church began to grow which led to the ability to get into a building.

2016

In August 2016, the Altamont opened its doors at 6749 Southfront Road at the base of the Altamont Pass in Livermore, CA. The days of building up and tearing down church every Sunday were in the past and the Lord quickly filled this new building with many new church family members.

2019

2019

In May of 2019 Patrick went to be with the Lord after a difficult battle with cancer. He would leave behind a legacy of zealousness for the Lord even when faced with unthinkable challenges. Patrick had an intense love for the Lord and it was his heart for God and others that enabled a strong foundation of members at the Altamont. It was at this time that Charlie Meng would begin teaching more consistently as the Altamont teaching pastor.

2020

In December of 2020, our beloved worship leader, Sarah Meng, Charlie’s beautiful wife, also went to be with the Lord after 40 beautiful years of living with a terminal illness. Sarah not only exuded the aroma of Christ, but had the voice of an angel - she led us into worship with an anointing that ushered in the presence of the Lord Sunday after Sunday.

2025

With continued growth at Valley Bible Church at the Altamont, the Elders felt it was time the Altamont was ready to launch on their own and become an independent church body. After 12+ months of working towards becoming independent, on January 1, 2026 we officially became Altamont Bible Church, with Charlie Meng as the main Teaching Pastor
